What services do you offer?
With the assistance of a highly trained team of freelance editors, artists, designers, and a valued local printer—services include editing, book layout, book and cover design, obtaining ISBN and copyright registrations, proofing, paper selection, and high-quality printing. All books will be quoted according to the writer’s specifications, prior to submission of manuscript. Once a quote is accepted, a contract, including payment options and approximate timeframe, will be sent to the author. Final blueline of the book project must be approved by both, the author and publisher, prior to being sent to print.
How do I submit a manuscript?
Please—DO NOT send in any unsolicited manuscripts—as they will not be opened, read, or returned. Only manuscripts per a signed written agreement between ArcticHouse Publishing and author will be accepted. As we are a very small, loving, and caring family-run company, we give our undivided attention to just one project at a time. Therefore, currently, we are not reviewing any new manuscripts. Please come back periodically and visit this website to see when a submission period for a quote for a possible book project is open. If you had a book with a target date in mind, please feel free to Email us a query for a quote and if there is an opening for submission (do NOT send the manuscript) with the words “Book Query Quote Request” in the subject line. Then, please wait for our reply. If we can add your book into our production schedule, we will contact you to discuss the job in more detail to see what you want your finished book to be like. We can then offer you our professional recommendations, supply you with an approximate project quote, enter into a contract, and then begin the editing process. Your book is very important to us and getting you a finished product you can be proud of is #1 in our mission! Please keep in mind that we are a very small, indie publishing house, and while we would love to work with you on your pet story, it is on a one-project-at-a-time basis. Can I list my books on Amazon, my own website, and pitch to bookstores?
Absolutely! These are top-notch, high quality books that include U.S. Library of Congress Copyright Notice and an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) number and bar code (that most bookstores and award contests require).
Once a manuscript is accepted, how long until I get my actual book?
There is no set answer. It is figured out on a book-by-book project and depends on the amount of work required to bring your story to print. Typically, there is up to two weeks for just the printing time. Editing, illustrations, layout & design, proofing, plus any extra services, such as bleeds and photo manipulation, also takes time. Additionally, extra time is needed around holidays due to freelancer schedules, and mail/shipping delays. Once we quote your project and enter into an agreement, we will offer you an approximate project timeline for your book.
How do I pay for your services?
We will invoice through PayPal. We will also accept certified bank checks, postal and/or money orders. No personal checks will be accepted. Registration fees (Copyright and ISBN), as well as half of the quote will be due upon contract signing. The second half of payment is due upon approval of final blueline of book, before book goes to print.
Is there a cancellation fee if I back out of the project?
Yes. Once the contract has been signed, production work commences immediately (which includes production meetings, editing, layout & design, proofing, illustration, etc.) there is a 50% cancellation fee. If the book has already been sent to the printer and we can cancel print production, the cancellation fee is 75%, if books are in print production, the full amount of contract is still due. The cancellation fee is to cover work already done by our team of freelancers, materials, registration fees, and printing team, so please be sure you want the project to commence once you sign the contract to save any cancellation fees once the book goes into production.
Will I see a draft of my completed book prior to it going to print?
Yes. ArcticHouse Publishing will be in touch via Email (PDF files) and/or phone calls or in-person visits as we progress to be sure we are developing the book you dream of. We highly recommend you check out the books in the Book Store tab to see the quality of award-winning books we print.
How do I get my printed books?
Finished books can be picked up for local authors, or quoted for drop shipping directly by the printer, per the customer’s choice.
What about book marketing and promotion?
Marketing and promotion are not one of ArcticHouse Publishing’s services, therefore, all marketing and promotions of book are the sole responsibility of the author. However, ArcticHouse will list the published book on its website, with a book summary and link to author’s selling site.
